The Games That Time Forgot – Shadow Of Rome, PlayStation 2

Screen Shot 2018-01-17 at 11.04.45Today we look at a game that was meant to of had a sequel but due to the original game not selling well in America and Europe, it got cancelled and the sequel turned into the computer game Dead Rising. Today we look at Shadow of Rome.

Shadow of Rome was created for the Playstation 2 and was developed by Capcom Production Studio 2 and Published by Campcom. The game was released in 2005 and was based around the tale of Julius Caeser and his assassination. The story is based around Agrippa and Octavianus, Agrippa is a soldier who is forced to fight in gladiator arenas because his father is accused of murdering Caeser. Octavianus is another character however his job is to prove Agrippas innocence.

The aim of the game is basically fight and journey through ancient Rome to prove Agrippas innocence. Shadow of Rome is under the genre of Slash and Stealth game – this means, like a lot of game about Ancient Rome expect gore and violence. For example, you can use weapons such as swords which means that you can hack of parts of the people you are fighting. However, it’s not just about fightin the game allows you to participate in chariot racing and solve puzzles of all varieties. Even though there are two main characters, you can only play as one player.

The game got releatively good reviews with an average of 7 out of 10 with comments of reviewers saying that its frustrating that its a game that just isnt right as it could of been brilliant. The game play others mention is clunky and too easy to fight as you press only one button.
