Hello! Tell us all about your show!

Ruby Carr: BITE ME is a silly goofy stand up show. This show is about obsession and perfection. I wanted to do a show that talked about my experience of getting treatment for OCD. I just so happen to be getting dental treatment at the same time, there shouldn’t be any overlap… right?

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

Alex Franklin – Kiss Me. SHE IS HILARIOUS and I’m obsessed. Kat Higgins – In Memory of Me. We came up through the circuit together and she has INSANE skills in crowdwork and an amazing show. Hannah Platt – Cult Classic. Brilliantly funny and great storyteller! Chelsea Birkby – Is In Full Control The Entire Time. She is a phenomenal joke writer. Kate Cheka – The Last Funny Woman. Kate has killer punchlines and is soooooo cutting in her social commentary. Courtney Buchner – One of the Girls. So filled with joyous energy and a hoot and a half!

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

Give every audience the best show you can. When an audience member comes to your show, they pick you and they want to see your show. And the show shouldn’t change if they are one in a sold out room or one in a handful. I once did a show to 4 people, I gave them the same show if it was 40, one of those people was a reviewer – 4 stars. Always be grate and excited for the people you have in your seats, it is a privilege.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Wake up, little panic, breakfast, panic some more, scroll instagram, comparison panic, head to town, panic, flyer a bit, worry incessantly, mentally prep for show, (ahhh), set up, (AHHHH), do show, … omg that was the best thing ever, I feel amazing, I feel on top of the world, I’m INCREDIBLE, lunch, go see some shows, dinner, schmooze a little bit, home. REPEAT.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

Importantly, I am not a foodie. Nothing has ever tasted good enough for the price tag or the washing up. So my favorite foods are easy comfort foods. So the jacket potato stand on George Square is my go to. Every year I rely on the veggie bolognese with garlic mayo to get me through the month.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

It is such a privilege to spend a month doing my show in a town with so many people ready to take a chance on the weird goofy shows. I also get to hang out with so many friends from the comedy scene as we all descend on one city for a month. I get to do my passion and see my friends –  the perfect month.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

It’s not special, but I bring a nice pillow. Sleep is important during the fringe and my head and neck will be supported.

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

If you’re attending during preview week. If you’re willing to take risks, you can stand looking in your programme near venues and someone will run up to you asking if you want a free ticket to a show starting in 30mins, because they have press in and they want a nice room.

If people want to find out more about you, where can they follow you on social media?

Instagram  – rubyvroomvroom, because my name is ruby carr. I used to work in schools, I could change it back to ruby carr now, but I enjoy it too much.

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

Little freaks only x (a kiss isn’t a word right?)
