Every Sunday we are taking a look at the world of books. I read a lot and always want to share my opinions on what I read, so I thought it would be fun to write reviews. Today we are looking at the next book by Bob Mortimer.

The Long Shoe (2025)

Bob Mortimer

Synopsis

Bathroom salesman Matt is at a crossroads. He has lost his job, he is about to be made homeless and his girlfriend has left him. He wants his luck to change and he wants things to go back to how they were. Out of the blue he is offered a job that comes with a free luxury apartment. He hopes this might be enough to tempt her back. But, as events unfold, it starts to dawn on him that perhaps she didn’t leave of her own accord after all…

Positive Points

This book is in typical Bob Mortimer humour which makes it a fun read. It can be really random at times which makes you want to keep reading what is happening.

Negative Points

I found it very similar to the last books which really let it down. Some day it is a continuation but I don’t think it is and that is the problem with it that there are a lot of similar narrative points.

Overall Review

This book really disappointed me as I had such high hopes as the two books before were so good. This book felt very repetitive and following a similar story of the first book and that’s why I didn’t enjoy it. Such a shame it had so much potential.
