Have you ever wanted To listen to a new band or musician and not sure where to start? Well, instead of listening to their commercial music, why not start with something off the album first! Today we look at the brand new album by Dim Gray that is set to be released soon – Flown
Again
This is the opening track on the album and it gradually welcomes you to the world of Dim Gray, whilst the music is gradually building it allows you to really listen and focus to the lyrics and they are very poetic in their style. The music is slow but very cinematic in it’s style with a lot of string instruments creating this really beautiful sound that when listened to through in headphones you realise there is a lot of different elements.
Ráth
This song start with this really dramatic piano and drum beat that automatically invites you into this track that is full of wonder and imagery that is painted through the folk feeling track. The lyrics have a sense of narrative to them that take you on a journey and allows you to create this world inside your mind of the journey that the singer is going on. The highlight of this song is the string instruments that intertwine into the music throughout the track to create this really unique sound.
Dreamer’s Disease
This song has a bold beginning of these guitar riffs that feel different and unique to the rest of the album. The track has elements to it that feel a lot like a stripped back indie track which is then interrupted by these dramatic and punchy drum solos which are really fun to hear. It is a great little track full of emotion and lots of fun musical surprises. It is a track that is six minutes that is fun to listen to and also quite melodic as well.
Black Sun
This son opens with this really enchanting guitar melody that creates this calming and mystical feel to the end of the album. It is an emotional track and I think it was a great choice to end the album on as it is again very cinematic in it’s style. The way that the musical interludes wrap around the verses create this wonderful soundscape and takes you on a wonderful journey.
