Have you ever wanted To listen to a new band or musician and not sure where to start? Well, instead of listening to their commercial music, why not start with something off the album first! Today we look at the brand new album by Zebrahead – Brain Invaders
When Both Sides Suck, We’re All Winners
This is a great song to open the album with a d true to zebrahead form it is full of lots of fast drum beats, heavy bass lines and a great chorus. Ali rapping really brings this song to life and sort of depicts the sort of album this is – unpredictable but also expected. There is a use of more electronic sounds this time which brings a new level to their tracks later in the album
We’re Not Alright
This is a true zebrahead song through and through and if you are new to the group this is a great song to rely define the ‘sound’ they tend to go for. It has a real punk rock feel to it in the guitar rifts and a really catchy verse and chorus music melody that in some ways it could remind you of bands such as Blink-182. It is a song by zebrahead that I suppose is for everyone because it is softer then other songs. Sort of like their ‘commercial’ song if that’s a term
Chasing The Sun
This is a really interesting song from zebrahead as the drumline echoes the genre of ska whilst the guitars echo a more heavier rock genre. The song has a really punchy chorus which makes this song a stand out track for me personally on the album.
I chi, ni, ichi ni shi
You want to experience the heavier side of the band then this is the sing you need to listen to. This is the reason why they play festivals like Download. Whilst they are good at the lighter stuff they also ace the heavier style of rock as well.
Take a deep breath (and go fuck yourself)
This song shows another side yet again of zebrahead. It is hard to really define their genre because they do so many interesting songs. This song definitely intertwines elements of a R&B vibe into a rock genre and it’s wonderful. The guitar solos and Matty’s voice in the chorus really heighten this song.
Better living through chemistry
This song yet again breaks boundaries of genres. This again has elements of I guess the rap genre intertwined with parts of rock and ska it is a very good song and yet again shows how great this band are.
