It is a game that has been popular as a kids toy for years but what happens when you turn the thing that is fun to play with physically into a computer game?
Back in 2006, Game Boy Advance released a game called Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots that was based on a toy from 1964 of the same name. It was developed by Full Fat and Published by Zoo Digital.
The aim of the game was to fight another brightly coloured robot in a boxing ring. You had the option as to what colour you played and whether you played against a human or a computer. The controls on the Game Boy Advance meant that you press a button to punch and another to shield. If you held down one of the buttons longer you could get a more powerful attack loaded to hit your opponent with.
The game received a lot of highly negative reviews because of its really easy and repetitive gameplay. People did not enjoy the backgrounds and found the game quite bland. Also if you did not have the cable for the Game Boy Advance, then you could not play multiplayer mode.
