Jarvis Sensei’s Nerdtopia

Welcome to a brand new feature to the Phoenix Remix called Jarvis Sensei’s Nerdtopia. Remember a while ago we interviewed Sadie about her YouTube Channel and all things nerdy – well she has stepped on board and is going to write articles about all things Nerdtopia – so please give a warm welcome to Sadie as I now handover to her.

I’m just gonna put this out there; I have never written for a blog before. So when I was asked to contribute to The Phoenix Remix I have to admit I was nervous. Now it’s not that I am shy or having nothing to say, in fact quite the opposite, I was worried I would ramble on and people would think I am bonkers. Which I totally am by the way. But I thought ‘you know what, sod it. Why not give it ago Jarvis?’. So here I am writing my first blog, five sentences in and I still haven’t introduced myself.
I’m Sadie, aka Jarvis Sensei, a 27 year old nerd. Other labels to describe me include; geek, gamer, crazy cat lady, drama teacher, anime nut, DC fan girl and, if you ask my boyfriend, hoarder. Which if you ask me is a bit harsh, I mean I only have 42 Funk Pops, and have been collecting for a whole year.
Anyway you will find out more about me over the coming months. Now the reason I am writing for The Phoenix Remix is to invite you all to join me in my Nerdtopia, aka my YouTube channel. I recently decided that I had become quite a hypocrite. In my day job I spend my time teaching my students to reach for the stars and not let anything stop them from reaching their goals. Yet I myself had not been practising what I was preaching. The drama and media student in me was desperate to be creative again and my extreme nerdisms were being squashed. So I threw caution to the wind and decided to give YouTube a go and so Jarvis Sensei was born.
My channel is a one stop shop for all things nerdy. As a passionate gamer, comic book reader, anime lover and collector it is super exciting for me to have a platform with which to share my nerdisms with my subscribers. The plan is to be rolling out a content schedule mid to late September but for a sneak preview of the types of videos you can expect I invite you to join The 100 Club. The channel is in its toddler phase right now with only 46 subscribers as I type this, and to thank my early supporters I will be running monthly competitions until I reach 100 subscribers. So grab yourself a place in my cherished 100 Club team and hit the subscribe button now.
Soon the channel will have shiny new banners and thumbnails, as produced by the incredibly talented artist Xander Lee, as well as a huge upgrade to video quality with the imminent arrival of my new equipment. This will mean I will be able to produce a huge range of geeky content for you to enjoy, including Let’s Plays of horror games, which I promise you will be hilarious, for you at least.
‘So what’s on the channel at the moment?’ I hear you say. Well yesterday I posted my review of the Brand new R rated Batman movie The Killing Joke (click on the name to watch it) In it I share my excitement before the film and my reflections after, as well as giving you an introduction to the aforementioned awesome Xander.
I am currently mid edit on a Loot Crate Anime unboxing video, which will go live Wednesday morning, and holy Felicity Smoaks did I get some cool ‘loot’ this month. Also on the channel you can find some Uncharted 4 gameplay, Comic Con footage, OMG movie, game and TV reactions as well as my early Pokemon Go exploration.
I look forward to sharing my YouTube journey with you all. Head over to my channel using the link below and join my geekdom. I will leave you with a challenge for now…
Can you come up with a nickname for my subscribers? Matthew Santoro has the Santoro Army, Stef Sanjati has her Little Buns, but what can I call you my wonderful readers and subscribers? Let me know in the comments on any of my videos. If your suggestion is chosen I will be sending you some geeky gifts as a thank you.
Thank you for reading.
