Tell us a little bit about your style of show?
It is a naturalistic drama/comedy about siblings and childhood. I was trying to blend together the personal conflicts within myself and my family with a heightened, fictitious event that really amps up both the pettiness of their actions and the consequences of their drama.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
One of my actors is performing in the show directly after ours each night so most definitely that one. He is a crazy man.
How are rehearsals going?
Going fantastic, the chemistry of the actors has been wonderful to see, and the vibe is incredibly collaborative and rewarding. All of the creatives involved are friends I have accrued along the way during my many jobs as a front of house staff member. They all get along incredibly well and it makes for really difficult directing as it feels like a teacher at times, but it’s still manages to be incredibly fun.
What is the best thing about performing at the Camden fringe?
It’s the ability to be anything and everything, the overwhelming sense of self expression is really palpable in fringe shows. People who are doing whatever, whenever and however they can to perform. And the freedom to experiment as well.
London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of life hack?
Having the ability to work with friends and people you share a workspace with, has always been the best part about it. Sharing and working on things together has always been essential for my experience.
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
David Tennant. But I could settle for Matt Smith. In serious though someone who can relate to familial struggles, and that sibling dynamic that grips many people.
The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this years pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?
Percy, seems like a nice name for a nice looking pigeon. It seems kind, which is what we need more of.
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Siblings, dear god.
