Hello! Tell us all about your show!
H.R. The Musical is sketch-comedy set in the workplace for anyone who’s ever had a job, or thought about getting one. It’s a three-hander from New Zealand. We take the banal everyday frustrations of working life and give them a musical treatment in multiple different genres, from latin plainchant to blues to rap and more. It’s absurd, sometimes close to the bone, and may make you want to quit your job.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
Elf Lyons, Garry Starr, NZ clown show How to Art.
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
It’s our first time doing EdFringe but we’ve done Adelaide, Melbourne and Auckland fringes before. NZ actor Jonny Brugh (The Office Australia, What We Do in the Shadows), told me that, based on his experience there, my adrenal glands would be completely shot after the month in Edinburgh and that I may not be able to smile for 8 months.
If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?
The non-stop buzz and range and celebration of the performing arts. I can’t wait to meet other artists and see their work. Most of all, I can’t wait to share the craziness that is H.R. The Musical with audiences in Edinburgh in a kind of mass therapy-through-comedy session.
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe .
Expecting to sleep till 9, get out and about, target (in a friendly way) some local offices to promote the show to their workers, flyer, lunch, eat, plan any adjustments for the night’s performance, see an afternoon show, flyer again, warm up, pack in, perform, exit-flyer, see two or three more shows, home to hit the hay.
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
Being part of something so human and so live and in such a storied town.
Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?
I might bring a wheatbag in case it’s cold!
What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?
Intermittent fasting, hearty soups and sharing resources with other artists.

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
