Hello! Tell us all about your show!
FORIEGNER is a solo that simultaneously explains—and refuses to explain—Sohrab Haghverdi’s experience as an Iranian asylum seeker. A paradoxical, autobiographical, anti-identity, anti-comedy clown show.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
We’re coming over from the United States and from the city of Philadelphia with a handful of other exciting artists including: Lightning Rod Special with “Lions,” Lee Minora with “Baby Everything,” and more.
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
We’re touring American fringe festivals before coming over, but this will be our first time at the Edinburgh Fringe. It’s also the first time Sohrab will have left the United States since he sought asylum there from Tehran in 2013.
If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?
Sohrab is looking forward to drinking his wee every night in front of an international crowd. For real.
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
Wake up. Meditate. See many shows. Perform. Recover.
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
We plan to look for fesenjān.
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
For Sohrab: getting exposure of his body and soul.
Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?
No. We don’t like to feel special. Not good for spiritual development.
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
Insta: @foriegner.show
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Unconventional. Undismissable. Unforgettable.
