Hello! Tell us all about your show!

Belly is a one-person play about girls, appetite, grief and control told across three generations of women in one family: Ellie wants to swim in college, Katie wants a healthy baby, and Susan wants her husband to be alive. This play has everything: direct address to the audience, a bowl of honey nut cheerios, and a GOOP-coded nightmare sequence musical number in an OBGYN’s office.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

So many – holy cow! We’re big fans of Xhloe + Natasha (Bigfoot Ripped My Dog In Half I Saw It), Hey Thanks! Theatre Collective (Beargirl), Liana Holston (Haha, Oh God 2.0).

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe?

This is our first time, but so far we’ve heard: Good walking shoes, cold medicine for week two (fringe flu), create a regular flyering routine, sleep when you can, find a couple of easy to make packable meals to bring around with you, and make sure to do one thing that’s totally unrelated to the festival on days off!

If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?

The feeling of being around live performers for an entire month. To be with so many scrappy, funny, passionate, people with a dream that looks a lot like ours will be so joyful and comforting.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Hoping for:
8am up and attem, breakfast + coffee, admin work + emails

10am – 12pm-  flyering

12 pm – 1pm – warm up and walk around, get to Greenside + hang out in the bar

1:45 – 2:45 – Do BELLY
3 – 5 – take a shower and a nap

5 – eat something

6 – 10 – go see shows!

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

When we came to visit last year, there was this incredible place near Summerhall called Noodles & Dumplings. The soup was so wonderful.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

Really looking forward to just getting the reps in. A month of live performance is so good for an actor who is used to doing self tapes and long audition days with occasional bookings. It will feel so good to stretch the muscle of working on a show.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

I’m probably gonna bring a stuffed animal that looks like my dog. I’m gonna miss her so much. And maybe one of my husband’s sweaters.

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

I’ve heard peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are the way to go. And I’ve been sober for around 4 years, which I’ve heard helps a lot too

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

@get_reilled_up on Instagram!

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

Hope, healing, and moms.
