Tell us a little bit about your style of show? 

SCALENO is a solo performance built around three voices inhabiting the same body. It blends text, sound and technology to explore identity, fragmentation, and the struggle to stay present. It’s intimate, but not comfortable.

 

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

 I’m curious about works that take risks with language and form. At fringe festivals, I’m always drawn to pieces that don’t try to please, but try to say something necessary.  

How are rehearsals going?

They’re very difficult, being alone on stage playing three characters—pure schizophrenia. I dream the lines at night and sometimes I repeat them as soon as I wake up. Unconsciously.

What is the best thing about performing at the Camden fringe?

The Camden Fringe is freedom, an absence of judgment. For a few days, you can stop being society’s polite student and be yourself.

London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of life hack?

I’m looking for advice too. Let’s do this: can you pass on the answers others give you?

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

A spectator who doesn’t seek lessons from the theater at all costs or expect anything to be given to him. I would like a spectator who wants a show that speaks of imperfection, who wants to see that one can be left unresolved, and who is willing to be disturbed. In addition to Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Jodie Comer and Elle Fanning.

The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this years pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?

Given the dissociation discussed in my show, for me now nothing is as it seems. So I imagine it as a Magritte painting, a pigeon on a canvas with the caption “This is not a pigeon.”
