Hello! Tell us all about your show!

My show is an epic, musical, cinematic/stage-e-matic story of how I, Margaret Thatcher, went to Hollywood to star as myself in a remake of the Iron Lady. Along the way I clash with my arch-nemesis Meryl Streep, meet a not at all suspicious producer named Harvey Sexpest, get a makeover from Ryans Reynolds and Gosling and sing a selection of songs penned by the creators of Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder! It’s got everything you could want in a crowd-pleasing blockbuster – suspense, action sequences, product placement, holidays on Jet2 the nation’s favourite airline, and most of all… ME!

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

Too many to name, dear! I have more friends at the fringe than I do supporters in Scotland. That’s right, I have three friends! I’ll of course pop along to my excellent co-star Rosalie Minnitt’s show Clementine 2, as well as my stalwart director Jon Brittain’s bits on the side Crybabies: Te Scaring, Alfie Brown, John Kearns and Aniah Magliano. And I’ll be moonlighing on my own bit on the side – Maggieoke, an all 80s karaoke night, at the wonderful Francesca Moody’s Shedinburgh Festival!

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

I’ve now been doing the fringe longer than I was in office, dear. In fact, I’ve been doing it almost as long as I’ve been dead. My advice would be: tread carefully if you’re wearing heels on cobbles, taking a flyer and saying thank you is often a quicker way out of the interaction than saying no, and never have more than one crepe per night from the crepe van – you think your stomach can handle it but it really, really can’t.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

5:15am – cold shower.

4pm – relaxing afternoon drive in a tank

8:40pm – absolutely smash my show

11pm – hit the clubs

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

The Mosque Kitchen, dear – three curries and rice, thank you very much – consequences be damned!

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

Meeting the lovely people of Scotland, dear. We may not speak the same language, but in a strange way I feel like we understand each other. That, and the cheese toastie cart.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

Yes, I bring the Chancellor of the Exchequer and move them in next door to me. And the briefcase with the nuclear codes. Just little touches to make it feel more like home.

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

I like to save money where I can, dear. Try completely cutting all public sector funding – I find that really helps to balance the books.

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

You can find me on https://www.instagram.com/maggiequeenof/

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

LIGHTS! CAMERAS! MAGGIE!
