Tell Us about:

You’re latest single you have released:

My latest single is Trapped in Freedom. It reflects a realisation I had during the COVID period, when I moved further away from the city to escape restrictions. It’s about the contradictions of modern life, how freedom can sometimes feel limiting in unexpected ways.

Your favourite lyric in this song:

“A concrete sign of the passing of time is how much there’s left in your toothpaste tube.” That realisation was the starting point for the whole song.

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

A track called Portals from my upcoming debut album Clean Your Soul. It hasn’t been heard yet, but it’s a personal favorite. So stay tuned to hear that first!

Your favourite song to play live:

So far, Trapped in Freedom. It has a quirky energy while still being very melodic, and the chorus often turns into a singalong, which is always fun.

The song that was the longest to write and why?

Portals took the longest. It started as something quite different—almost an instrumental—and I struggled to find the right vocal approach. Eventually, I began experimenting with chopped vocal samples, creating textures where the “lyrics” aren’t really intelligible. That gave the track its character. I was also refining the arrangement at the same time, and my mixing engineer Oliver Varga helped me focus on what really mattered in the song.

One of your previous tracks you would recommend for first time listeners of your music and why?

The Bike Song. It’s a fun, uplifting track. An ode to cycling and sharing those moments with friends, family, and loved ones. Especially now in springtime here in Europe, it’s a great entry point into my music.

Dream collaboration:

I’d love to collaborate with Henry Blaeser, an upcoming artist from the U.S. I discovered him through his remix of Low Island’s Everything Before Us, and I really connect with his sound.

And on a bigger dream level—working with any member of the Animal Collective would be incredible.

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

It’s about connection. I remember a show at the Mitäs Mitäs Mitäs festival in Finland, where people were already there during soundcheck and interacting with us. That blurred line between rehearsal and performance created a really natural connection—and that’s the feeling I try to carry with me on stage.

The track that is most fun to play live:

The Bike Song. In the live setup, I have Ava Grayson singing backing vocals, and it creates this playful dialogue on stage. It’s super fun.

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

Colorful gaffer tape—I always bring multiple colors. You never know when you’ll need tape, and it might as well be visually pleasing.

Describe your fans in three words:

Curious, open-minded, playful

A song released in the last few years by an artist or band you wish you had written:

Shanghai by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. It captures a kind of controlled chaos that I really admire.

What we can look forward to from your band this year:

My debut album Clean Your Soul came out in May. There will be a release show in Finland in early June, and I’m actively looking to play internationally. I’ll also be sharing a lot of new content on social media—and I’m planning to release additional material from the album sessions as an EP later this year or early next year.
