Today we let Kit Loyd take the reigns and talk about being able to work with a comedy hero for this years Fringe show…
I was working as an usher at Soho Theatre in 2019, when I first saw Trygve on stage and I couldn’t believe how impressive he was. I had never really seen anything like it, I took my wife to see the show the next day and I remember telling her afterwards “all I want to do, is that”.
“I believe Trygve does this better than anyone else on the planet.“
I went out to Prague three times to work on my show with Trygve, the first time I went, was for a week solo and the other two occasions I went with my director George. I’ll always remember on my very first morning, Trygve made me mime the story of The Three Little Bears. I had a bit of an out of body experience – I was In Prague, alone in a room with Trygve Wakenshaw, pretending to be Goldilocks eating porridge in complete silence. I tried to make the scene funny, but Trygve wasn’t laughing.
From then on, we began to find some cool stuff together. From airplanes to funerals and romances with a mop, me and Trygve went on some wild silent adventures.
Trygve has been hugely instrumental in helping me shape my show Frenzy. His wisdom and guidance are not limited to physical comedy. He has also taught me so much about play and finding the game in any scene or sketch. He has taught me how to seed the most mundane of ideas and then escalate it into something mad and magical. I believe Trygve does this better than anyone else on the planet.

I will genuinely look back at those days of being in Prague with Trygve as some of the happiest times I’ve had as a performer. Being away from home, in a cool city, picking the brains of a wonderfully unique genius.
Come along to see Kit Loyd: Frenzy at Downstairs at Assembly Roxy (Venue 139) – at 8.20pm between the 30th July-24th August
