Hello! Tell us about yourself?

Camilla Pessi born in the Italian part of Switzerland. Loving and living my life in Tenerife, Canary Island when I’m not on tour. I graduated from the Dimitri Academy in 1998, physical theatre school. It’s also the time when I met Simone my working partner and best friend. I love travelling and living wild in nature with my dog Jucika. I love performing my shows tour travel and then go back to my Island to recharge the battery. Very proud to represent myself as a woman clown.

Tell us all about your show!

OH OH is a clowning physical theatre show.  A love story between circus clown and physical theatre all in a poetry and a slapstick flow. The company won several prizes all around the world and with our first show PssPss we play more than 1000 times. We hope the same future for OH OH. It’s a show without words using the universal language of the body and mimic. An encounter between 2 surreal characters coming on stage from a world of the stunt movies (Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Oliver and Hardy). We love to say that the show is a way to bring people back to them deep wonderful and naive childhood that they forgot. A moment of fun poetry acrobatic and universal love, for all people from 7 years old.

How did you come up with the name of your show that you’re taking to the fringe?

OH OH is a popular exclamation used by kids when they are surprised or have done something wrong or marvelous. It’s an exclamation that can mean everything or nothing depending on the imagination of everyone.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

Very good and vibrating circus shows, or dance shows, or physical theatre shows….possibly exploring the non-verbal communication.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe. And if you haven’t, how are you gearing up for it?

Yes, we have done the Fringe twice with Compagnia Baccalà and the show PssPss. The advice is to enjoy, keep cool even if you have no audience attending the show and keep going on, smiling. Show up during the day to advertise your show, and meet other artists or the audience. Be the best version that you can be during the Fringe.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Wake up no breakfast, going for a walk in nature with my dog, then going to warm up 1 hour alone then 30 minutes with my partner. Going to the theatre, set up and play the show. After the show directly going in costume in the street for advertising and giving out flyers. Late afternoon finally retiring home and going again in nature with my dog. Dinner and goodnight quite early to recharge the battery as best as I can.

What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?

Not to accumulate too much stress and finding moments to recharge my battery, as for instance going out in nature, having a chat with friends and lovely people, being able to not think and be working 24 hours. Keeping my mind free, positive thinking and giving receiving love from people and the audience. Have good sleeps and live food.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

In my garden under the trees.

Best thing about performing at the Fringe?

The audience the atmosphere in the city, playing for one month without pause, all the interesting meeting and exchanges with presenters artists professionals people and the audience.
