Hello! Tell us about your act?

‘Like Father’ is an improvised musical journey into what manhood means to all of us and what masculine characters shaped our lives. Based on the audience stories I’m going to create scenes from musicals about their brothers, fathers, teachers, or sons.

How did you come up with the name of your show that you are taking to Liverpool Improv Festival?

The show title is inspired by my late Father and the influence he had on my drag character. Having done drag for a while now I realized that masculinity is what we make it, and its essence is shaped by our encounters with different men. Every person I meet has a different perspective on what a male role really is, and exchanging those ideas is very fun and inspirational.

Tell us a little bit about your style of show?

It’s obviously a drag show, since I’m performing in drag, but otherwise the genre could be described as a solo musical with a lot of cheeky chatter.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the festival?

I am really excited about the entire line-up! I always love to see Monica Gaga and Jodyanne FR, comprising the feminist twoprov Derek’s MoJo. I am also excited about Old Haunts, since I’ve never seen a show like this one.

What is the best thing about performing at the Liverpool Improv festival?

I love how the team is open to bringing in new ideas and fresh perspectives!

What are your three favourite things about Liverpool

I love how it’s by the seaside, even if it’s a bit windy at times. The people here are amazing, too. But my favourite thing about Liverpool is definitely LIF!

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

Someone who loves drag, comedy and music!

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

I encourage y’all to just jump on to my Instagram: @vujoza. I will be doing a couple of shows in the UK right after LIF, so it’s easy to follow my next steps there.

And Finally finish this sentence – ‘you should see our show at Liverpool Improv Festival because….

…there has never been a show like this one. And there never will be, because if anyone does a show like mine, I will sue them. Just kidding! Or am I?
