Hello! Tell us about yourself?

Hi, we’re Tom and Joe. We’re both character performers/comedians based in London and we’re making chaotic yet wholesome work with an absurdist twist.

How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the fringe?

Well, the concept came first and it was taken from the meme where someone will say ‘My Last Two Brain Cells trying to…’ and then a video or a photo of two idiots trying to accomplish a task.

We wanted a catchy name that would let people know what they were in for from the get go. So, I suppose we can’t really be credited for the name itself, but conceptually, we don’t think anyone has done this before.

Tell us all about your show!

My Last Two Brain Cells invites an audience of honorary hormones into TPL Inc’s head office for a once in a lifetime tour. But when disaster strikes and all of the Brain Cells flee the office, it’s up to number 64,928,460,784 and 12 to try and keep everything afloat.

We don’t want to give too much away, so we’ll leave it at that. But we can promise you an incredibly fun night of chaos and wholesomeness. Think Step-Brothers meets Inside Out with a pinch of Monty Python.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

Really hard as there’s so many, but here are the ones I have circled in the programme after a very brief flick through (inevitably missed loads of shows that I want to see)

Hooked: Mr Sister
Wasteman
Grubby Little Mitts
Frankie Thompson and Liv Ello: Body Show
Ay up, Hitler
Birthmarked
Butchered
Chloe Petts
The Dark Room
Lachlan Werner – Voices of Evil
Reuben Solo: Palindrome
Reuben Kaye
Sex-ed revisited
A Manchester Anthem
Mythos Ragnarok
Showstopper
Grown up orphan Annie
Sophie
Wonderdrug
You are going to die
And I’ve heard that My Last Two Brain Cells is decent too

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

Tom: I did Ed Fringe in 2013-2015, but I’m aware that it’s changed loads and I’m ready to rediscover Edinburgh. I’m prepping Joe for what’s to come. I was once given some advice by a man on the Royal Mile about sleeping with your socks on to keep the government from controlling your brain and that’s stuck with me to this day. Also, eat well, Sleep well and make sure you go and see the city.

Favourite one liner you have done in a show and why?

Tom: Is it possible to have abs in a hand?

Joe: Je ne m’appelle pas Clive

(They’re from My Last Two Brain Cells at Gilded Balloon, Patter Hoose, Nip from 2nd-27th August at 21:40. Come and see it if you want some context).

What have been some of the most unique and different comedy shows you have seen this year and why?

The Dark Room has always been a favorite and great to see that it still has such a huge following after all this time. I can’t think of anything like it and you should go and see it!

Terry Wogan Screams: A crazy, crazy show where Terry Wogan was brought back from the death for an hour and then we sent him back to hell at the end of the show.

Hooked: Mr Sister is also top of our list. It’s great to see women in a space that is so heavily male dominated and absolutely smash it out of the park.

Aside from that, they’re our friends and they’re bloody lovely human beings, go support them!

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Wake up in the mornin’ feelin’ like P Diddy (hey, what up girl?)
Grab my glasses, I’m out the door, I’m gonna hit this city (let’s go)
Before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack
‘Cause when I leave for the night, I ain’t comin’ back… Until we’ve finished the show.

What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?

By coming to see My Last Two Brain Cells from the 2nd-27th August at Gilded Balloon, Patter Hoose, Nip at 21:40.
Also, like go and check out the zoo or something.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

Edinburgh is like Disney World for artists and the Gilded Balloon is like Epcot and the Nip in Patter Hoose is like… The Frozen ride… I forgot the point. But I guess, the best thing about performing at Disney World would be sharing the stage with Mickey Mouse.

The most challenging thing about performing at the fringe?

The competition. How are we going to be seen and how are we going to get people to come along to our show?
Simple, bribery.

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

A rain coat, water bottle and one million dollars

What’s the secret to successful flyering?

Depends on your show. For us, it’s to try and make people laugh or the other option. Bribery.

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

Mr Bean

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

Just search for My Last Two Brain Cells and look for the two guys in shirts and ties.

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

Because it’s so… Ran out of words, should’ve planned what we were going to say.
