Today we look at a game that was called a clone of Zelda as there wasn’t a copy of it for the Playstation and this was one game took that this opportunity to make their own version. Today we look at the game Alundra.
Alundra was a game that was based around a man who learns that he had the power to enter people’s dreams. He gets shipwrecked on an island and helps the locals by entering their dreams and defeating their nightmares on topics such as death, depression, religion and the essence of human existence.
The games was released in 1997, it was developed by matrix software and published by Psygnosis. The games is an action adventure format with a mix of puzzle solving, action combat and platform game.
Even though there is comparisons to Zelda the game was actually considered a ”spiritual sequel” to the Sega genesis game Landstalker. The main character looks the same and many of the employers who worked on it also worked on Alundra.
The game was welcomed with very positive reviews on a whole and even s won a number of awards as well. It sold 100,000 copies in North America alone in a month in 1998.
