Combining a musical icon with a cooking show is not a concept that many would think of but welcome to the creative mind of Katie Pritchard. Last year she entertained audiences with a high energy pop concert and this year she returns with a show that combines an Elton John character hosting a baking competition – yes you read that correctly.

The whole show is based around a show that is live on television where it is a gameshow, baking is the star but it is all about cooking without an oven! It is faced paced, erratic and what you expect from a good Fringe show – packed with entertainment, silliness and wackiness throughout.

The show is bursting with musical puns, lively audience participation and a whole lot of fun. There is so much side-splitting content that happens so unexpectedly that it heightens the laughter.

It is an insanely bubbly and electric show. If there is one thing that is evident with Katie is that she knows how to write a show specifically for Fringe audiences. She understands the way to bring an audience into her world and make them all incredibly enthusiastic to participate with the environment she throws them into.

The only problem with this show is that since there are many parody songs with popular songs you may go away and only think of Elton Scones lyrics when you hear these tracks in the future. You may start singing baking related lines to famous Elton John songs.

From the moment the show began, the audience’s energy and willingness to participate were impossible to ignore. Reactions like that only happen when people are truly enjoying themselves, making there only one score I could honestly award.

A show with true Fringe spirit.
