Hello! Tell us all about your show!

The show is a weird, absurdist, multi-character trip through my own quest for fame and where it all began – in the strip world of the pre-digital era in the late ’90s and early 2000s. We time-travel between 1981, the ’90s strip scene and the present day, meeting all sorts of dubious characters along the way. It captures everything that was both right and wrong about ladette culture, digs into the messiness of third-wave feminism, and follows one working-class woman trying to navigate the glitz and the grime to make it to The Big Smoke.

Show Brief:

Before she was viral cult icon Charity Shop Sue, Selina Mosinski was Randy Cain: an 18-year-old stripper from Derby with a big mouth, bigger dreams, and no intention of staying small town. Hitchhiking to London, she slips off-course into a Midlands “titty bar” adorned with a baroque human-sized birdcage stage, buzzing strip lights that judge you, stag parties dressed as Papa Smurf – and Garry, a sleazy casting man who swears he can make her a star.Part confessional memoir, part riotous character comedy, this is a surreal plunge into Britain’s strip-club boom, 00s ladette culture, and the strange comfort of Sylvia Young – Randy’s guardian angel, who keeps dragging her back towards the light. A darkly funny, glitter-stained confession about how far we’ll go in the name of fame and fortune.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

I can’t wait to see ‘Baby Lame: Hit Me Baby One More Lame’ ‘Adam Larter: Who Remembers the 90’s’ ‘Metroland Live: As Seen On Tv’ Fatiha El-Ghorri: Cockney Stacking Doll’

And anything weird and wacky, I loved Alice Cockayne’s show last year, it was hilarious and absurd which is my fave comedy to see.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been

I did few dates at the fringe many moons ago! I performed my piece called ‘HDPE’ in a shipping container that was made into a ‘peep show’ style space. It was a show about plastic manufacturing but performed in a very erotic and intimate way…but this is my first big run and my debut so jeez lets see if I can hold out without collapsing…

Tips – Midway your going you feel knackered. Audiences will differ, some will love it, some won’t but if your having a good time, that’s all that matters. Eat grapes and at least 20 green vegetables a day. Given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?

Being in the thick of it all. Seeing the show evolve. Enjoying those moments that I get within the show to improve. And of course watching alorra comedy.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Sleep. Eat. Poop. Perform. Watch shows. Have the occasional shower.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

Ahhh I don’t know as i haven’t been in years! If I’m skint I’ll just be grabbing a few packs of space invaders from the corner shop. If I’m plush I might be tempted to treat meh sen to an all ya can eat Chinese buffet.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

Being able to focus on new material and hopefully hang out with celebrity comedians? Maybe networking? Is that a thing to enjoy…I’m not sure. Ask me again after the fringe.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are Away?

I’m going to miss my dog! So I might get her face printed on a pillow so I can give her fake synthetically stuffed body a hug and pretend she’s real.

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

Don’t buy fancy whiskey. I made that mistake once, i didn’t realise what Whiskey it was and by the time I clocked the bill it had already been poured.
