The best seasons of the Office US are with Michael Scott. I have many I will speak about in the future HOWEVER whilst it may lost it way at times, there are some fun episodes after he leaves. It takes a while for it to find its footing again (and then ruins it again in season 9) and I really cannot stand James Spader’s character Robert California but there are some episodes that are enjoyable.
In Season 8 there are fun fun episodes with some really random storylines. This season allows characters like Andy Bernard and Dwight Schrute to evolve and develop and that is where the fun lies. One of the most random but enjoyable episodes in Season 8 is episode 12 called Pool Party.
Robert invites everyone over to his house fora pool party – Andy loses an important item, Erin tries to make Andy jealous, Darryl has nerves about the water and Gabe and Ryan will do anything for Robert to notice them. It is one of those episodes that already starts in quite a bizarre situation and gets even weirder when all hell breaks loose.
It is a fun episode and there is so many dynamics to enjoy – seeing a new partnership between Erin and Dwight is quite refreshing whilst the partnership between Gabe and Ryan is so uncomfortable and really lowers their status which is great to watch.
Out of all the episodes without Michael Scott, I quite like this one as it is unique and has it’s own identity. Sometimes I feel that they were trying to mirror episodes that were successful and whilst you could loosely link past house parties such as Jim’s and Gabe’s it stands out in its own right. It feels like an ensemble which works perfectly and allows newer characters to shine.
