Hello! Tell us all about your show!

Father, Away She Goes is a darkly comedic one-woman-play about ruthless female ambition. Here you will meet our protagonist Sarah Jones – ‘A masterclass in the love-to-hate character. Think Succession. Think Fleabag, with teeth’ (Scotsman). Described as a 21st century Lady Macbeth, Sarah walks a fine line between unlikable heroine and lovable villain- she says the outrageous things others wouldn’t dare to!

Opening with her world-crushing rejection from art-school, Sarah Jones is a trainwreck spiralling through hangovers, humiliations, half-truths… & we can’t look away! But as her ambition curdles into something darker, she is pushed towards a final, devastating twist that leaves the audience reeling. Written and performed at 17, Electra Kolb received 5-star reviews at Edinburgh Fringe 2025, and she cannot wait to return this year with more caustic wit, and gut-wrenching revelations…!

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

I’m really looking forward to watching Boiler Room Six: A Titanic Story and also One Man Poe. Not only have I heard great things about both, but I’m also really interested in watching solo-show performers because it’s such a skill! I also love stand-up comedy so I’ll be on the lookout every evening for a great laugh.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

Yes! I did a short six-day run last year and I had the time of my life, so anyone who’s keen to give it a go, I would urge you to take the leap and do it! And whilst flyering might feel daunting, trust me, once you get out there, you meet so many incredible people from all over the world, it really enhances your Fringe experience. And obviously try to see as many shows as you can!

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

I like to have a slow(ish) morning after a good sleep, and fuel up with a big breakfast because walking the streets of Edinburgh can be tiring! Then comes the mad rush of flyering and pitching my show to the wonderful festival attendees. 30 minutes before my performance, I like to take some time away and get into the headspace of my character, so I do a vocal and physical warmup. Then it’s time for the best part – the performance! After that I am usually shattered but I’ll push through, watch a show or two and then collapse into bed ready to do it all again tomorrow!

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

It would definitely have to be Civerinos pizza – it’s the best post show treat!

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

Obviously the amazing joy of performing in front of a live audience and feeling their energy as you take them on a journey of highs and lows is incredibly rewarding. But also, the joy of meeting other performers and like-minded creatives is such an amazing part of Fringe, because you make friends for life! And of course, going and watching the most outlandish and absurd performances, and being exposed to such unconventional theatre is so inspiring!

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

Yes, my mum and my sister who are my greatest hype beasts!

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

Look for shows that offer the 2for1 ticket deal on the first Monday and Tuesday of Fringe, so book your tickets ahead of time. And I always have a sneaky sandwich in my bag – it saves time and money!
