Finding a stand up show with good storytelling is always a treat when you stumble across this at the Edinburgh Fringe. If you’re looking for an hour packed with captivating stories, delightful anecdotes and plenty of laughs, this is the show for you

Irene Woo show delves into many subjects with the main core of the show being about the relationship with her dad and leaving a job as Senior Software Engineer at Google to become a full time stand up comedian. It delves into subjects such as growing up and being told to become a dentist to using her brothers wedding as a distraction to tell her father her career change.

Irene is half Chinese and half French and the show is scattered with so many hilarious stories about growing up in France compared to moving to America when she is older and the comparisons in the way that she is treated and spoken to. There is a great story about how female friends speak to her in France compared to America.

There are also plenty of well-crafted jokes about working as a software engineer in a male-dominated industry. The show draws on experiences of everyday sexism, from colleagues assuming you work in marketing to the constant need to challenge those assumptions. These stories are both relatable and hilarious, adding another layer of warmth and authenticity to the performance.

This is a really fun well crafted hour of storytelling, it is well rounded and also really interesting as well as funny. A delightful hour of comedy that I would recommend you go and see.
