Rosalie Minnitt Month – INTERVIEW – Tour Life…

This month we go behind the scenes of the show Clementine and celebrate comedy, theatre and the world of Jane Austen. Today we talk about tour life.

Before we go on about the tour, let’s find out more about the show, what can audiences expect?

Audiences can expect a character comedy that plays with the conventions of period drama while also exploring very modern ideas about love and identity. It’s quite theatrical and playful, with lots of storytelling and a slightly chaotic heroine at the centre of it all. Hopefully people leave feeling like they’ve escaped into Clementine’s world for an hour.

You are going on tour, that must be an exciting feeling? What are you most looking forward to?

It’s incredibly exciting. One of the nicest parts of touring is getting to perform for completely different audiences and seeing how each place responds to the show. Comedy always has a slightly different energy depending on the room, so it’s really fun discovering those new reactions and bringing Clementine to people who might not have seen her before.

How do you warm up for a show?

Usually some vocal warm-ups and a bit of quiet time to get into the right headspace. It’s quite a high-energy character to play, so it helps to physically and mentally prepare before stepping on stage.

How do you wind down from a show?

There’s always a big burst of adrenaline after performing, so it’s often about slowly coming back down from that. Sometimes that means chatting with the team or friends afterwards, or just taking a quiet moment to decompress after the excitement of the show. And a big pint!

How have audiences been responding and reacting to the show?

The response has been really overwhelming in the best way. I’ve had so many lovely messages from people who felt seen by the show, which means a lot.
