Everyday this month we are looking at different songs from different films that I love and feel that they deserve their time to shine in the limelight. They are all bits of music that I love and I wanted to talk about them more in depth so that maybe you the reader can have similar experiences and understand why I like them.
Song From Soundtrack: Truman Sleeps – Philip Glass
Film: The Truman Show
Year: 1998
I would say Jim Carrey is one of my heroes, I grew up in the era of his films and there are a couple of his characters I see elements of myself in. The Truman Show is one of the best films made – it is so clever, way before it’s time and it sees Jim in a whole new light.
Whilst the film is phenomenal it is also the music that heightens it and brings it to life. This is my favourite piano piece from the film and one of my favourites of all time. This song s so emotional and for a song just over two minutes it brings so much to the scene and even as a stand alone listen.
It has so much passion to it and it can leave you with a lump in you throat as it is that beautiful.
