For The Love Of Film – Day 3 – Across The Universe

Everyday this month we are looking at different songs from different films that I love and feel that they deserve their time to shine in the limelight. They are all bits of music that I love and I wanted to talk about them more in depth so that maybe you the reader can have similar experiences and understand why I like them.

Song From Soundtrack: Across The Universe – Fiona Apple
Film:  Pleasantville
Year: 1998

Pleasantville is a fantastic film, I have only seen it a couple of times for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is never on any streaming platforms and secondly it is one of those films I deliberately don’t seek it out as it is so unique that you cannot watch it very often or you spoil the magic of how clever it is.

There is one of the songs from the soundtrack and I find it is one of my favourites from the Original Soundtrack as it has this bittersweet feel to it. This makes it weirdly positive and emotional at the same time.

If you take a minute to listen to just the background music, you get a sense of just how many depths and interesting layers that it has. It is intriguing, mystic and again something that heightens the emotion.
