Here at The Phoenix Remix, we have been sent some previews of shows heading to the Edinburgh Fringe. So over the next few weeks, we will be reviewing these so that you can keep an eye on them or potentially go and see them at the festival. The Phoenix remix will also be at the festival this year so we will be posting more reviews throughout August.
No matter how much you love eBay you will never like it as much as Ruby Carr – she is obsessed and this is what this show explores. Everything from last minute deals, photographs of other families and weird finds on the auctions. Yes this show has it all.
Full of PowerPoint presentations, bizarre anecdotes and Love Island, this is a show that will be different to other things that you see at the Fringe this year. It is an interesting concept where everyday life is compared to items sold on eBay with some very comical moments.
Ruby is very energetic on stage and it takes a while for the audience to connect with her style of comedy as at the beginning there is a joke that goes on for a bit long that loses the audience as she moves across the stage as an insect which leave the audience a bit unsure. However, as the the show goes on, the audience really start to connect with her and the laughs come fast and thick.
The show is loud, energetic and full of sections where Ruby is frustrated by the things she experiences whilst using the site. There are a couple of tiny sections that could flow a bit better, but overall this is a show you will want to see if you are after something unique.
If there is one thing that is obvious about this show, Ruby really loves Ebay and you won’t look at the website in the same way ever again.
RATING: ***’ 3.5 Stars
