Hello! Tell us about yourself?
I’m outrageously young, smart and always tell the truth. Some people might know me online as Cat Girl or ASOS Girl, the girl who danced with her parents or as an office worker by the name of Jill or Tracey. But I’m rebranding as a model… that also does Stand-up.
Tell us all about your show!
It’s mostly just a show about all the most toxic things I think day to day. I want it to feel like an incredibly fun conversation with your toxic best friend. But I guess it’s also a show about what it’s like to go viral overnight, what people expect from you after that happens and why you can’t live up to it if you grew up in the 2000s. I’m trying to work out who I want to be versus what other people want me to be and asking why are both of them impossible? A lot of people don’t know that I was a stand-up comedian before I went online. I’ve been honing the show for four years now and I can’t wait for you to see it!
How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the fringe?
It came from the fact that I’d been called a ‘Role Model’ a lot since taking my comedy online but I didn’t feel qualified as all I really wanted people to say was that I “could be a model”
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
I’m really looking forward to seeing Catherine Cohen’s return to the Fringe. Also some of my best mates are debuting alongside me. People like Dee Allum and Katie Green who I did the Pleasance Reserve with back in 2022 and Alex Kiston who I met at my very first gig are all doing their first shows and I can’t wait to see them!
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
I have done the Fringe before! At first as an actor with my University group and then as a Stand-up more recently. However, this will be my first time going solo for an entire hour! My best advice would be to remind yourself that the outside world exists as much as possible and don’t get wrapped up in the FOMO.
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
Well I’m going to try and be far more well behaved this year. Usually I’d wake-up at 2pm, go and see as many shows as possible and then spend my breaks in Brookes Bar editing videos or writing new jokes. Evenings would then end at 5am after desperately trying not to miss out on a single social event. Mental health is this year’s focus though and I’m treating it far more like I would a normal job back in London. I’m going to attempt a much more regular sleep schedule and maybe even attempt the gym!
What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?
Depends what you’re into. There’s literally something for everyone but I cannot recommend the Chihuahua Cafe enough
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
Edinburgh Chihuahua Cafe
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
Getting to do what you love for a whole month!
Top tips for traveling around the Fringe and getting to shows on time?
I dunno, run?
What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?
Tripod, portable charger and a card reader
What’s the secret to successful flyering?
Genuinely believing in the show you’re selling, knowing who your target audience is and then knowing your elevator pitch once you’ve stopped them. Best thing you can do though is just be a friendly person people would actually want to spend an hour with!
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
@abiclarkecomedy
And finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Fun, relatable, outrageous
