Hello! Tell us about your act ?

‘Story Forge: Make your own Myth’ is a new show for children and childish adults. We are massive fans of history, myth and legend. We have been making and touring work for children for the past decade. We also love making stuff up. Our show is highly interactive, and we get the children involved in the show. We love the chaos of what might come out and love the liveness of working with children. There are three of us and we all improvise the text and the music based on the ideas of the audience.

How did you come up with the name of your show that you are taking to Liverpool Improv Festival?

Story Forge is an old term and derives from the Saxon laughter smiths. We root our work in the stories and the pantheons of the past and we give them a wicked new twist.

Tell us a little bit about your style of show?

Our show is anarchic, we take suggestions that inspire us to create three new myths. In the final story a member of the audience becomes the hero of the quest. All our props are created out of cardboard – so we literally recycle everything.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the festival?

We are excited to watch ‘Freeing my Body with the Pole’ we have seen Rowena before, and she is amazing. We can’t believe they are going to improvise for four hours by themselves. This is something we couldn’t miss. We are also looking forward to watch Hardy and Webb – Mystery at the Museum another piece of work for children. We know and Jen and Becky and they are lots of fun on stage.

What is the best thing about performing at the Liverpool Improv festival?

This is our second year but with a new piece of work. We loved the vibe, especially in the bar areas there was a real buzz. The work we watched last year was fab and we are looking forward to catching up with some old friends and making some new ones.

What are your three favourite things about Liverpool

We are biased. We love Liverpool Football club, well two out of the three; the other is a United fan. It is a great city and very friendly, there are loads of great places to eat and drink. Our favourite has to be Liverpool Arts Bar, which does amazing coffee and is a great place to hang out.

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

Someone who enjoys the feeling of the wheels coming off and we don’t crash.
