Hello! Tell us about your act?

Ever wondered what a world-famous detective duo gets up to on their day off? From cracking some of the biggest and baddest cases ever to taking in some culture at the museum, Hard and Webb can sniff out crime anywhere.

As Hardy checks out the gift shop and Webb hunts down a decent cup of coffee their detective senses are tingling. Is it an astray artifact? A souvenir smuggler? A vanishing volunteer? They’re not quite sure but thankfully there’s some new cadets on hand to help uncover the mystery.

How did you come up with the name of your show that you are taking to Liverpool Improv Festival?

Mystery Laugh came from Jonathan Pitts, co-founder of the Chicago Improv Festival, after he saw us perform together in a workshop, he encouraged us to set up a show together and we should focus it on a shared love, and the rest is history!

Mystery at the Museum (not murder, as some of the promotional material might suggest!) is pretty self-explanatory, we’ll be in a museum and there will be some element of mystery…NO murder (we’re family friendly!)

Tell us a little bit about your style of show?

The show is a mix of all the things we both love, classic detective, and mystery smushed together with improv and not taking ourselves seriously on stage (we have a right good laugh!) We play big, bold characters, chase brave plotlines, and explore being daft.

This show is our first family friendly show, after the success of our slightly more sweary show Detective Downtime, we’re excited to explore what the detective duo we’ve created get up to in front of a different crowd with a new format.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the festival?

We love nothing better than a murder mystery (very on brand for us) so we’re thrilled to see Murder Inc will be performing on the Friday evening. Also, very bias of us but Jen is also in The Incomplete Works of Shakespeare on the Saturday evening.

Finally, everyone LOVES a bit of short form, so we’ll also be heading to see the Oickers on Saturday afternoon.

What is the best thing about performing at the Liverpool Improv festival?

Getting the space to try out our brand-new family friendly show, expanding our audience and having the chance to do it alongside so many other incredible local, national, and international performs is incredibly exciting.

What are your three favourite things about Liverpool

The food – if you’re ever wondering where Hardy and Webb are, we’re probably eating vegan Poutine or scouting out the best Sunday dinner in town.

All the culture – we love a good museum (hence the new show setting!)

The people – we might be bias, but Liverpool has got some of the best people, we know loads of amazing creatives and get to do a bunch of fun stuff with some of them.

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

The queen of mystery herself, Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie Mallowan!!

If people want to find out more about you, where can they follow you on social media?

We don’t have a separate page for mystery laugh – but you can find out everything we’re up to by following jenhardyimprov on Instagram.

And Finally finish this sentence – ‘you should see our show at Liverpool Improv Festival because….

you should see our show at Liverpool Improv Festival because in the words of Agatha Christie herself It is a curious thought, but it is only when you see people looking ridiculous that you realize just how much you love them. We can guarantee you’ll see us look ridiculous and we hope you’ll love us for it!!
