The festive period is here and there are so many shows that are available for audiences to go and watch! Over the next few weeks, we will be talking to lots of different shows and performers about what they have in store for this time of year. Today we speak to Fabian who is performing as Don Francisco in the Theatre Chipping Norton Cinderella show. Hello tell us a little bit about yourself!

My name is Fabian, and I’m an actor, singer and musician from Costa Rica, currently living in London. I’ve lived in the UK for four years now, three of which I spent training in Glasgow, at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. 

What is the show that you are bringing to the stage in this Festive season?

We are bringing an adaptation of Cinderella – or rather “La Cenicienta”, as she’s known in Spanish, because our version is set in Latin America. It’s a retelling of the beloved story, with all the fun and vibrancy from our culture. 

Tell us all about the character that you play?

I play Don Francisco (but everyone calls him Chico), a rich young man from the town of Santa María de las Orejas de Soplillo. I can’t call him The Prince, as there’s no monarchy in this town, but he’s as princely as it gets. 

Will there be a bit of festivity in your show?

There will be plenty! Everyone is invited to our Carnaval – and it will be hard not to dance along to the amazing original music written for the show. 

What are your favourite things about the festive season and why?

Back home, it’s the time when we would hold massive parties with the extended family, to eat hot Tamales and exchange presents. I’m excited to see what the festive season looks like in Chipping Norton!

What is the best thing about a night at your show for the audience?

Our cast is full of talented Latin American performers and creatives, so you can expect a night full of authentic Latin fun! The music, which was written for this show, is beautifully crafted with delicious Latin rhythms, which will undoubtedly draw you into our magical town.
