Hello! Tell us about yourself?

I’m just a sweet lil baby from Los Angeles. I was a professional comedian for 14 years before settling down as an assistant to one of the top entertainment lawyers in Hollywood. I still yearn for the stage, however, and continue to perform.

How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the fringe?

Patrick Susmilch is my name, so that part only took a few hours to come up with. The show involves screenshots of texts from my dead friends, so I just called it that. I’m very creative.

Tell us all about your show!

It’s a humorous exploration of grief in the digital era and a rare opportunity to hold space for the complex emotions surrounding loss. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry. You’ll laugh again. Hopefully, in that order.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

I will see every other Patrick perform and approach them after their shows. I’m assembling a team.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

I’ve never done Fringe before. Everyone tells me to “Have fun.” Which is why I will only travel via roller-coaster.

Favourite one liner you have done in a show and why?

“The place where I buy pens moved. Which is crazy because I thought it was a stationery store.” I told this joke at a punk show and was booed off the stage. It’s the best I’ve ever done.

What have been some of the most unique and different comedy shows you have seen this year and why?

I saw someone film a stand-up comedy set using the back-up camera of a 2007 Toyota Prius.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

I haven’t done Fringe but here is my planned routine:

8am: Wake Up

9am: Wake Up For Real

10am: Ok, For Real, Wake Up

10:01am: Disassociate

11am: Breakfast

11:30am: Uncontrolled Sweating

3:45pm: Perform

4:45pm: Crowd Surf Out of The Theatre to Thunderous Applause

5pm: Elected As The New Mayor

6pm: Scandal

7pm: Apology Tour

7:15pm: Hot Mic Catches Me Saying Something Rude

7:30pm: New Apology Tour

8pm: Dinner With Wealthy Government Friends

8:46pm: Turns Out Dinner Was A Bribe

9pm: No Longer Mayor

9:15pm: Light Jog (Gotta Get My Steps In!)

10pm: Fitful Sleep

What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?

Stay hydrated. There’s a lot of dry humour out there.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

The guaranteed success. All 3000 shows will be signed to Netflix.

The most challenging thing about performing at the fringe?

It’s a lot of shows! It’s a marathon.

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?

Humility, childlike sense of wonder, toothbrush.

What’s the secret to successful flyering?

I wish I knew! I’m the worst salesperson on the planet, so I will hire someone more charismatic than me.

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

A paid audience member that knows exactly when to laugh.

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

I’m not the most online person, but you can follow me on IG @the_patrick_susmilch

TikTok at @patricksusmilch

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

God, please come.
