Hello! Tell us about yourself?

My name is Linus Karp (he/him) and I’m a faggy Swede making stupid theatre.

How did you come up with the name of your show that you’re taking to the Fringe?

I like to think of my shows as my babies, so I named them what I’ll name my future children.

Tell us all about your show!

Diana: The Untold and Untrue Story is a queer, comedic retelling of Princess Diana’s life as it should’ve played out. It combines drag, puppetry, multimedia, song, dance, audience participation and a lot of queer joy to create a celebration that’s simultaneously incredibly loving and incredibly stupid.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the Fringe?

Mainly me tbh, but also very excited to revisit and discover many more exciting artists, particularly queer. Some performers I’m v excited to see are Lorna Rose Treen, Dian Cathal, Nathaniel Jones, Joe Leather and the play Pitch and the musical Public.

Have you done the Fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the Fringe.

Oh yes. My top advice would be to see my shows and to eat a lot and sleep a lot and have fun and see as many shows as you can and flyer 8hrs/day and don’t over exhaust yourself and practice mindfulness every day and do yoga and make life changing industry connections and go out and drink every night and climb Arthur’s Seat and make new best friends with other creatives and watch the fireworks and head to the sea and swim and win loads of awards and get your work programmed at new venues and live, laugh, love.

What have been some of your favourite shows to date and why?

My own. Besides that I’ve loved so many amazing shows. My two favourite shows from last year’s Edinburgh Fringe was Haley McGee’s ‘Age is a Feeling’ and ‘One Woman Show’ by Liz Kingsman.

Favourite one liner you have done in a show and why?

I mean to get to deliver Diana’s iconic “there were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded” is always rather special.

What have been some of the most unique and different comedy shows you have seen this year and why?

I have been on tour all year so I’ve not been able to see enough live shows – so can’t wait to get my fix at the Fringe!

What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the Fringe?

Try to have fun! Taking a show to the fringe is a massive achievement and you are doing this because you love doing it. You can’t control how people respond to your work or how many tickets you sell, all you can do is your best – you might as well try and have fun while doing that.

Best thing about performing at the Fringe?

The atmosphere. It’s wild to have so many creative people all in one place for a month. There is nothing like it.

The most challenging thing about performing at the Fringe?

Maintaining energy. You will have to accept that you can’t do everything you want to do.

What would be your top three items every performer must take to the Fringe?

A mind that is ready to expand, a butt that is ready to sit on various uncomfortable seats and hands that are ready to applaud.

What’s the secret to successful flyering?

Energy, positivity and to know your target audience.

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

Diana – returning from the afterlife to watch it.

If people want to find out more about you, where can they follow you on social media?

find all show details at @awkwardprods and I’m also on @linuskarp

And finally, in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

I need money.
