It is August which only means one thing – it is Camden Fringe time! Over the next few weeks we are chatting to acts that are performing at the festival and finding all about their show and what they would call this years iconic Camden Fringe Pigeon! Today we speak to John about Club Chemo

Hello! Tell us about yourself?

I am born and bred in London. I have been acting gor over 20 years I graduated from Drama Centre of London just down the road from Camden in Chalk Farm in 1998. I wrote the show after having survived stage 3 testicular cancer.

How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the Camden fringe? 

  I named the show Club Chemo as I saw all people that have been inflicted with cancer and treated with chemo as being in a club. Cancer survivors or patients I felt had a un spoken connection.

Tells us a little bit about your style of show?

Hard hitting tongue in cheek gallows humour.

What will your set be about?

Testicular cancer 

What advice would you give to others who want to perform at Camden Fringe next year?

Just do it!

The people

What are your three favourite things about Camden?

The history, community and the pubs

Favourite one liner you have done in a show and why?

I wasted time now time waste me. Don’t take life for granted.
