Hello! Tell us about yourself?
Hi my name’s Milo, I’m a stand-up comedian and podcaster from Essex and once upon a time I used to be a comedian on Russian tv. Got out of there just in time I reckon.
How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the fringe?
My dad is the only person who has ever left me a voicemail and thinking about that it fell into a good framing device for the show.
Tell us all about your show!
Voicemail is a show about life, death and the annoying intermediary parts – as seen through the lens of politics, the economy, the answering machine and MILFs.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
I’ll definitely be going to see Tom Walker, Alex Kealy, Olga Koch, Aidan Jones, Victor Patrascan and Pierre Novellie
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
I’m a veteran of so many fringes at this point I’m actually scared to count – but the key points are embrace the chaos, work hard promoting your show and take vitamins.
What have been some of your favourite shows to date and why?
2014 – Joel Dommet’s Finding Emo was a great show, just very silly and fun – I saw it twice.
2018 – Ahir Shah’s show, embarrassingly I can’t remember the name, but it was a really affecting show with a really nice motif about Bohemian Rhapsody.
Favourite one liner you have done in a show and why?
I talked about Osama Bin Laden’s privileged upbringing and called him a Champagne Islamist – the audience never quite laughed as much as they should have, because they’re cowards.
What three items are essential for a successful Fringe?
Stationery – you will need it!
Vitamins (see above)
A bike – low key Edinburgh is bigger than it looks and I’ve never regretted having one.
What have been some of the most unique and different comedy shows you have seen this year and why?
I wish I could say I’d seen any! Hoping I can at the Fringe haha
What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?
Drinking responsibly under the supervision of an adult.
The best thing about performing at the fringe?
The surprises, you honestly never know what can happen.
The most challenging thing about performing at the fringe?
Also the surprises. The duality of man.
What’s the secret to successful flyering?
Honestly? Have a good show that sounds interesting. Cut the wank and come up with a one sentence description of your show that’s catchy.
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
The girl reading this
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
I’m @milo_edwards on twitter and insta – twitter for my stupid thoughts and insta for my stupid face.
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Philosophy of Milfs
