Tell us about:
Your latest single you have released:
My latest single is called OMG, I wrote it about a year ago after a conversation I’d had with a friend about her recent breakup, then it finally came to life with my friend and producer Lorenzo.
As soon as I signed to The Animal Farm, we just knew that it was it, OMG had to be the first single. Although the lyrics may seem sad at first, it’s really just about finally letting go and embracing your emotions as they’re all part of the process of getting over someone that hurt you. I’m very proud of it and I’m so thrilled that it’s finally out for the world to hear.
Your first single and how you felt when it was released:
The first single I ever released is called “Home”. I wrote it for my friends, I was very scared that things were going to change after graduating high school and it felt very liberating to put my feelings into words. Releasing it as my first single ever really meant a lot to me, I was super scared but in a cool way.
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
That would have to be a song that’s not even out yet, so I can’t really give much away but I definitely think it’s my favourite I’ve ever written. I spent a lot of time on it and so did my producer, it’s probably the longest we’ve ever worked on a track, that’s why I haven’t released yet. It’s finally ready though and I can’t wait to put it out, although I am nervous ahahah
Your favourite song to play live:
My favourite song to play live is definitely “Can We Talk”, which is one of the songs from my debut EP. The lyrics mean a lot to me and I get emotional every time I get to play it live. People also seem to like it so it all adds up. I haven’t played OMG live yet though, which I’m very excited to do since I have a feeling that’s also going to be one of my favourites to play live.
Your most emotional track:
That would also have to be one of unreleased songs. It’s based on a personal experience, which made it kind of hard for me to write but I’m happy with how it came out. I really can’t wait until I can release it, I really think it’s one of my favourite songs I’ve ever written.
The best lyric you have ever written:
I don’t think I have one specific line, but if I had to choose, I’d say the bridge to one of the songs that’s set to be released this year. I didn’t even have to think twice when writing, words kept flowing out of my mouth and I immediately knew that what I was saying was right for me and that I had to say it because those were the words I’d been looking for.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
The feeling I get when I’m on stage and see that there are people there who came just to listen to me and my music is definitely one of my favourite things about playing shows, it gives me such a boost of energy and happiness. Some of my favourite memories were also made right after getting off stage when people come up to me just to tell me they liked the performance, that makes every show worth the anxiety that precedes it!
The hardest track to play live:
All of my new tracks will be kind of hard for me to transpose since I’m going a different direction and the genre of my songs has completely changed over the past year. However, this is something I’m very excited about, I can’t wait to see what they’re going to sound like live.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
If I were to go on tour, I’d definitely have to bring my favourite pair of socks, as weird as it sounds, I always wear them on special occasions and tour would definitely be one of those. I’d also have to bring my skincare products; I’ve been trying to stick to it as much as I can and I’ve finally made it a habit so I’d definitely want to bring them along.
Describe your fans in three words:
THE ABSOLUTE BEST!
I’m not even joking, I hope that counts as three words because I literally have no other way to describe them.
A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:
I’m pretty sure I’d pick Iris by The Goo Goo Dolls, it’s been one of my favourite songs for years.
What we can look forward to from your band this year:
You can definitely expect lots of new music and hopefully so much more. I’m really looking forward to playing my new songs live, so I’ll definitely keep you posted!
