Today we look at a computer game that was based on an American animated cartoon of the same name that as on Nickelodeon. Aahh! Real Monsters was released on Sega Genesis on the 1st August 1995. It was developed by Realtime Associates and published by Viacom New Media.

The computer game is focused around three young monsters – Ickis, Oblina and Krumm. All three of the monsters attend Monsters Academy and they have to pass the Monster Midterm Exam. To complete their exam they have to scare a number of people and that is where you come in.

The computer game is a single player platform game where you have to complete 25 levels and 5 bonus rounds. Throughout each level you have to collect a number of specific items whilst also scaring people as well.

Throughout the game you have the chance to change between the three monsters, You can also perform team moves. The weapon of the monsters is rubbish which they throw at people. You can also collect ‘Monster Manuals’ which allow you to perform scares.

The game got mixed reviews – one critic said it was a game with stiff controls and weak backgrounds but high quality music.
