Hello! Tell us about yourself Ali ?
Hi, I’m Ali Brice. I’m performing at the Fringe this year. It’s quite a big year for me as it is my 10th anniversary of doing the Fringe. When I first performed there, in 2010, I had no idea I’d be back every year for TEN YEARS. Although it is my favourite time of year and I am so excited to be back with a brand new show. It’s my best yet!
Tell us all about your show!
It’s about me getting locked out of my house and getting in a bin to keep warm. It’s an exploration of my life up to a point and changes I made to start being a better version of myself. It’s also really surreal and full of nonsense.
This show is the closest I’ve come to creating the kind of thing that has been in my head for years – it’s silly, heartfelt, sincere, moving, It’s stand-up, character comedy, storytelling and clowning all in one show and I’m very proud of what I’ve come up with.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
Adam Larter, Lucy Pearman, Dave Bibby, Foxdog Studios, Pump Trio, and CanldeWacks.
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
This is my 10th fringe. The only advice I have is: JUST HAVE FUN!
What have been some of your favourite shows to date and why?
Dr Browns award-winning show was just amazing. Mark Dean Quinn’s You WIn You Lose was a very special show from 2018. Oyster Eyes were an excellent sketch group who had amazing shows in 2010, 2011 and 2012. They’re members included Natasia and Jamie Demetriou, Phoebe Walsh and Phil Dunning who are all still doing really funny things to this day.
Favourite one liner you have done in a show and why?
“Where are my potatoes?”
In context it was hilarious. But 2014 was 5 years ago. I never did find my potatoes.
What have been some of the most unique and different comedy shows you have seen this year and why?
Adam Larter has set the world record for most cardboard used in a show for the 4th consecutive year. Michael Brunström has created another brilliantly surreal show. I haven’t seen them yet, but I’m looking forward to Sean Morely and Andy Barr.
What is the best way to enjoy yourself at the fringe?
JUST HAVE FUN!
What would be your top three items every performer must take to the fringe?
An open mind.
A hardy pair of shoes.
A telescope.
what’s the secret to successful flyering?
Be friendly and JUST HAVE FUN!
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
Phil Collins.
