Forgotten Pop

Forgotten Pop! – This Week – Same Difference

Welcome to the article where we celebrate pop groups that you may of completely forgot about their music or may not of heard of them before and want to listen to something new!

Today we look at a duo that Simon Cowell described as ‘potentially two of the most annoying people’ that he had ever met, however they still did really well on hos television show – welcome to the world of Same Difference.

In 2007, siblings Sean Smith and Sarah Smith auditioned for the XFactor, even though Simon wasn’t really a fan, they went on to place third on the whole show missing out on the top spot to Leon Jackson. After leaving the show, ironically, Simon Cowell’s record label SYCO offered the duo a one single contract and were set to release the High School Musical Breaking Free.

However, a month after they were signed, their contract was changed to a full album deal that apparently was rumoured to be worth 1 million. In November 2008, they released their debut single We R One which reached Number 13 in the UK charts. In December of the same year they released their debut album Pop which reached number 22 in the charts and even went certified gold.

The original plan was for the duo to tour for 21 dates around the UK in 2009. However, this was subsequently cancelled and they ended up co-headlining a tour with Leon Jackson.

In April 2009 it was announced that the duo were dropped by SYCO due to poor record sales. They signed to a different record label and went on a 66 date tour around Pontins Holiday Parks.

They released their next single in August 2010 called Shine On Forever (Photo Frame) and entered the UK Charts at number 100. On February 2011 they released their next album album The Rest Is History.

In 2012 they started to record the new album however in 2014 they broke up and the last album was never released. So lets have a look at their music today.
