It was announced last week that the improv show Suki Webster Guest Speaker is going on hiatus for a while and the show that is happening this Friday at The Miller will be the last one for a while. I caught up with Suki Webster herself to reflect on the shows success and to find out more about the show.

Hello Suki! How did you come up with the idea of Guest Speaker?
Having done Comedy Improvisation for a long time I wanted to do something that would challenge us, and on a walk one day the idea of solo improvised speeches just popped into my head. Doing a solo spot is genuinely scary but great fun. Lots of my guests say it gives them the same buzz their first Impro gig gave them.
It’s the last show for a while – why is this happening?
We are taking a break because I want to re-format the show and come up with more solo speech ideas to play.
What’s been some of the highlights of the show for 2017?
So many highlights! I’ve had amazing guests and the audience have been brilliant. I’m especially looking forward to the next one with my old mate Steve Frost. Years ago we toured and did a run in the West End with Eddie Izzard’s One Word Impro. I had so much fun with Steve back that I can’t wait to have him play in my show.
You have had many guests over the year – who have been some of your favourites?
All of them I’ve had amazing people!!

What does the year of 2018 hold for the improv community what do you think will be big changes that will alter improv for 2019?
I think the Improv scene will keep growing. We should have a national day of Yes And where everyone has to follow the ‘yes’ and see where it takes them.
In three words why should People come to the last show?
Fast, Fun, Very Funny! Oops that’s 4
