Forgotten Pop

Forgotten Pop! This Week -Next Of Kin

Today we look at a band that was meant to be the UKs answer to the American pop sensation Hanson. The band was formed of three brothers and they tried to do well in the Charts but had diffculty along the way – today we look at the band Next of Kin.

Next of Kin was formed of Mark, Nathan and Kieran Bass who were from Essex and formed in 1998. They got a record deal when they got noticed in a shop in Birmingham. In 1998 the guys went on the tour with Smash Hits and toured the UK performing to many members of the public. They also supported Boyzone on their tour in 1999.

The band had only one successful single that was written by the Richard Drummie of Go West. The song they released was called 24 Hours From You which reached number 13 in the UK Charts. They did have a second single that was called More Love but unfortunately it only reached number 33 in the charts.

Even though they got dropped by their record label it was not the end for the band as they appeared on The X Factor in 2013 and were supported by Gary Barlow Throughout. Lets have a look at the music that they did have.
