The next time you plan a trip to Switzerland there is one city that you must put on your list to visit and that place is Lucerne. The city is based in the central area of the country and is located in the German speaking portion of Switzerland. It has a population over 81,000 and it is famous for its landmarks including the Chapel Bridge.

The Chapel Bridge (Kapellbruke in German) is a must see if you are visiting Lucerne and as soon as you enter the city centre it is really not hard to miss as it really is the centrepiece of the whole place. It is a wooden footbridge that crosses the Reuss in a diagonal fashion. It is covered with a beautiful roof which is such beautiful architecture and is like nothing else you have seen.

The city itself is beautiful and is made up of lots of beautiful streets and alleyways with lots of shops and hidden treasures along the way. If you go there around christmas time (like we did) these streets are decorated beautifully and are absolutely stunning.

The streets can get quite busy so be prepared for crowds as it is a popular tourist destination, but the city is so beautiful you really won’t be dissapointed.
