Every month, Newcastle based Improv troupe, Spontaneous Wrecks welcome their audience with an array of themed shows. This month, the gang are delving into the World of Game of Thrones. Due to my extreme lack of knowledge of GOT, I sent our film and television reporter, Karam, to interview the group in a fun Game of Thrones theme way.
WHEN: Wednesday the 4th of October
TIME: 8:00pm
WHERE: The Bridge Hotel in Newcastle
PRICE: 2 for £5 tickets in advance on Facebook, or £4 on the door.
Hey guys! Why choose Game of Thrones theme?
This is actually the second time we’ve done game of thrones. We first did it in April 2015, but with Season 7 just ending (most of us are big fans) we thought it’d be a great time to revisit it and invent some new GoT games!
Do you have props if so what for the show?
We have one prop but we would like to save it as a surprise – so you will have to come and check out the show to find out!
Who is the Jon Snow of the group?
We are all the Jon Snow – because when we start the show ‘we know nothing’ about what is going to happen
Anna Are you more Cersie, Margaery, or Daenerys?
(Cersie = shrewd and cunning)
(Margaery = ambitious, power hungry, and manipulative)
(Daenerys = hopeful, brave)
Anna is probably more Daenerys, with a light, playful dash of Margaery!
If the group had 3 dragons, which famous comedy club, or city, would you conquer?
Dragons?! We’d have dinosaurs, obviously! We could conquer pretty much anywhere with dinosaurs.
If you could take a famous comedian’s face and pretend to be them, who would that be?
We’d probably have to borrow Sir David Attenborough. It would make our impersonation that much more immersive!
Tell us what we can expect from your show?
We’ve given some classic Improv games a GoT twist, like SHAME for example. It’s essentially New Choice, but the improviser has to make what they just said more shameful.
If you owned a castle and had all the money in the world what would be the rooms you would want to be built and why?
We’d certainly have the ‘Stadium Venue’ room, packed with 60,000 adoring Improv fans. We’d quite like a dinosaur room too with a few live ones.
Describe in three words why people should come to your show.
Hodor, Hodor, Hodor
