Hello! Tell us about your act ?

THE LAST GUN is a narrative sketch mockumentary that charts the course of an arguably terrible western. In the style of Garth Merenghi’s Dark Place we zip through scenes from the film with interjections and interactions from an onstage TV giving perspectives from the people who were involved with the film back in the day. There are sketches, songs and even a video game element!

How did you come up with the name of your show that you are taking to the Brighton fringe?

I think I was trying to capture those sorts of epic movies that tell a story right from the title. Also I wanted to make an intentionally unviolent western – I mean what really is a western without the guns? Just a film set in America? Maybe!

Tell us a little bit about your style of show?

It’s a bit manic and improvisational at times – but overall I like to think it gives a sort of ensemble adventure vibe like Naked Gun, Dodgeball, Blades of Glory, Austin Powers and the like!

What can people expect from your Brighton Fringe performance?

To be unable to work out the magic trick that comes about 30 minutes in.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

I’m looking forward to seeing Aidan Picsman’s Dr Doolittle Kills a Man (And also reads extracts from his book) – same dates as me – I saw the preview and it was phenomenally fun!

How are the rehearsals going?

You sound like my producer! The answer is still: no!

Have you done the fringe before? What have been some of your favourite shows to date and why?

I first did the Brighton Fringe in 2021 with Chuck Salmon: Pool Noodles, a narrative sketch show set inside the world’s biggest leisure centre. One of my favourite shows was when we performed outside in The Warren, during a big football match day. At random points during the show, a ridiculous cheer would echo around Brighton – which was incredibly fun to work into the world of the show.

What advice would you give to others who want to perform at Brighton Fringe next year?

Just go for it! What are you reading this interview for!? Just DO IT!

What is the best thing about performing at the Brighton fringe?

That my family lives nearby so they can come and watch me swear in front of a crowd – and get paid for it! Or if we don’t sell enough tickets: pay to swear in front of a crowd! Not sure which is worse!

What are your three favourite things about Brighton?

The Sun, The Sand, and The Old Steine (that’s one for the locals!).

Tell us about your average day on a festival show run?

Stressful! The show has a lot of moving parts – and I’m not just talking about me!

Performing by the sea as well, that surely makes the fringe all that much more fun?

There is nothing like a post show dip… of a spicy dorito in some sour cream – and where better to do it than at the beach!

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

Ozymandias, King of Kings – I feel like he would have a lot of Instagram followers so maybe he could post an Instagram story about the show?

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

@willbfff !

And Finally finish this sentence – ‘you should see our show at Brighton Fringe because….

I double-dog-dare you!
