Today’s Featured Artist – INTERVIEW – Camilla K

Tell us about:

Your latest single you have released:

“Pretty Bitch Gang”, it’s a pop/melodic rap song over a reggaeton beat.

Your favourite lyric in this song:

lt’s between “only 10’s around be bout to go insane” establishing the levels in the gang and what we do. I also love “with them big boys cause they do them big things” again showing off the levels but also the diversity of the gang!

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

I have an RnB ballad called “Over You” that will be coming out later this year and it’s got a really special beat to it and l really get to show off my vocal abilities on it. I love it because people may discredit you as a singer when you only put out pop tracks.

Your favourite song to play live:

Pretty Bitch Gang has been fun to perform cause it’s such a sexy, sassy song and great to move your booty to!

The song that was the longest to write and why?

I have a song called “Girl ls A Gun” and we re-wrote it a couple times and l did the vocal production on it. It took a long time to not only create it but to record it too as it has so many vocal components in it.

Your most emotional track:

lt would probably be “Girl ls A Gun” as it tells about my struggles of being accepted and about being held back by others while trying to make my dreams come true. It’s a song about strength and resilience. I’m not from the UK, so coming to London on my own with no family or friends was very difficult. Finiding a support system has been a struggle. Especially in the toughest business in the world. Girl ls A Gun speaks on that.

Dream collaboration:

l’d love to work with the GOAT Mariah Carey on a ballad! But on a pop track… definitely Natti Natasha or Becky G! I’m a total fangirl for them.

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

I’ll put it this way… the level of fear l have before stepping on stage, is directly proportionate to the level of a high l get when stepping off the stage after a good show! It’s easy to get in your head an go through all the things that could go wrong. But l try to enjoy it as much as possible because it truly is a dream come true for me!

The hardest track to play live:

My first single “Down For You” is tough because of the speed of the song and the quick vocal transitions. I love playing around with different riffs and runs but this track doesn’t leave much space for that during a live show.

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

The pretty bitch gang! My favourite girl entourage is coming with me and lighting up every city we hit!

Describe your fans in three words:

Dedicated patient angels!

A song by another artist or band you wish you had written:

There are so many! But I really love God ls A Woman by Ariana Grande and what it stands for and represents. The divine feminine! So probably that one.

What we can look forward to from your band this year:

More music, music videos and the best part… shows!
