Sunday Book Club: The Tw*t Files, Dawn French

Every Sunday we are taking a look at the world of books. I read a lot and always want to share my opinions on what I read, so I thought it would be fun to write reviews. Today we are looking at the most recent memoir by Dawn French

The Tw*t Files
(2023)

Dawn French

Synopsis

A hugely-relatable, funny, honest and inspirational ‘memoir of sorts’ in which Dawn celebrates what it means to be gloriously, messily human.

When I was younger I wanted to be an interesting, sophisticated, semi-heroic, multi-layered person.

BUT. That kind of perfect is impossible. Being an actual twat is much the real me. Sorry to boast, but I am a champion twat.

In The Twat Files I will tell you about all the times I’ve been a total and utter twat. The moments where I’ve misunderstood stuff and messed up. My hope is that these stories might fire up yer engines to remind you of just what a massive twat you also are.

Let’s celebrate and revel in this most delightful of traits together. That would be perfectly twatty.

Positive Points

She is one of the top female comic actresses in the United Kingdom and this is a book that is sort of a different type of memoir – instead of looking at the way she got into television (you can read her other book for that) instead it takes a look at all the moments in her career when she has been foolish and found herself in some unusual situations. It is a book that is a really fun read full of great stories – right from the Comic Book Presents, to Harry Potter to even meeting famous people and royalty, it has it all. There are some really amusing parts and it is a really easy read.

Negative Points

I think one thing that you may find frustrating is that it is 400 pages and that is mainly due to the spacing in the font and they way that there are illustrations throughout.

Overall Review

I found this a fun read and there was some really exciting moments in the book that makes you want to keep reading, There are points where you can get a little irritated on the font and the way the text is positioned (try reading it in public and one page has a huge tw*t on it!) but other then that its worth the read
