The Phoenix Remix

Welcome to The Phoenix Remix – we are an entertainment website that is about all things comedy, television, music, film and everything in between.

Here at The PR, we love everything funny! We thrive on comedy and love to laugh out loud so we are always writing about the stand up scene, new up and coming acts, comedy shows that you need to know about and even creative writing!

MEET THE TEAM

Hello there! My name is Holly and I am the founder and the creator of The Phoenix Remix. I have been writing this site as a hobby since 2015 and in that time I have interviewed thousands of improv, entertainment and music acts. I work as a video editor in the broadcast industry and also have a strong experience in the world of journalism and my first article was published at the age of 16.

I have such as strong passion for comedy, music and travel that I wanted to create a website where others can learn more about acts and countries that may not of known before. I have been playing instruments since the age of 3 and have five years minimum experience of being a improviser and have performed in Brighton, London, Newcastle just to name a few.

I find it incredibly important to showcase and promote the world of comedy, music and improv as there are so many fascinating acts out there that can not get the platform to promote themselves – this is where I come in!

If you want to promote you act then get in contact by emailing me at phoenixremixcomedy@gmail.com

I do this website completely voluntary and as a hobby and it can be thirsty work! In one year alone I write anything between 500-1000 articles. Every year for festival season I can interview up to 200-300 acts and that is not even including the interviews I do every week!

If you want to buy me a cup of tea (and a biscuit!) you are more then welcome to!

GUEST WRITERS

Ever so often, we have guest writers that create a theme of articles about certain topics – predominantly improv as it gives a really in depth and different perspective on the comedy form. Here are some guest writers we have had over the years:

David Escobedo:

David is known on the improv scene as being a bit of a knowledge guru and is currently writing a PHD on the form. Over the years he has written a variety of different themed articles for the site including Tidbits and his most recent theme Trailblazers.

Rachel Thorn:

Rachel Thorn is a talented writer and improviser that tours many of her shows around the UK and has also had her sketch writing aired on the BBC. Over the years Rachel has written some fascinating articles about improv and shone a light on Improv Community Heroes.

Bobby Anderson

Bobby Anderson is an improviser based in Sheffield. He co-runs both Stürike Comedy and the Sheffield Improv Jam, and is part of twoprov Joined at the Quip. he teaches regularly with the British Improv Project and has worked with The Same Faces, Cambridge Impronauts and Work in Progress. His improv leans towards character-driven scenes and story, though no one can avoid a good pun when it presents itself. Over the years he has written articles about the comedy form and the local improv scene.
