Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.

SUICIDE TACOS

Today we are heading back to the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show in Mercades Texas to look at a product that is incredibly popular and only available at this event so people travel far for them.

Arabelle is the founder of the food stall and she is renowned for her tacos and this is what we are looking at today. The soft tacos are huge and handmade with flour, shortening, water and salt. When they are cooked they are grilled lightly then three types of meat is added.

The first meat is beef intestines – they are baked and fried with a seasoning of lemon and pepper. The other meats that are added are grilled beef and pork sausage.

On top of the meat pimento beans are placed then lettuce, peppers, onions and avocado to finish off the track, threw different spicy sauces are added on top.

This taco is incredibly popular at this event, it is a very spicy taste but that is why it appeals as it is apparently delicious.
