Hello! Tell us all about your show !

My show is about being an English girl living in Montana and some rather insane life experiences I had there through a mix of storytelling and observational comedy. A documentary film called Charged was made about my ex boyfriend and I and this show is essentially the ‘behind the scenes’ of that time and getting out the other side of quite an intense experience. It follows the themes of being a caregiver, relationships and ultimately re-finding yourself and building confidence. I hope watching the show makes people laugh a lot but also leaves them with something more.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

I love seeing a range of acts. Checking out new comicsI have never heard of before is my favourite at festivals as you don’t get to see those people elsewhere doing one hour shows very easily. Whereas the big comics do tours all the time so more likely to see them elsewhere.Checking

Checking out new acts is in a sense more exciting as you have no idea what you are walking into. I generally don’t check out new comics before online just so it is a complete surprise, so if I like the flyer or poster I will just go and check it out.

Of course, I do also love seeing the bigger comics, who have been favourites over the years, as I am almost guaranteed to enjoy it. I would say Jack Dee, James Acaster, Daniel Sloss, Sophie Duker and Ania Magliano are a few top ones for me this year. And, of course, always love seeing my director Stuart Law perform, I think he’s hilarious and hence why I asked him if he would be my director!

I have never performed at the fringe before, so I have no personal advice at all. But, from everything I have read it does seem getting that balance of performance/party just right is key, as too much partying and you have no voice, ha and too much performance focus only and you miss out on a massive part of what the fringe is all about.#If

If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?

I am most looking forward to improving my show. I have done it a bunch but never night after night in quick succession. I think the UK/International audience will be very different to my usual audience in the States so I am intrigued to see what works, what doesn’t and how that reshapes the show for the fringe. I, of course, want to keep the show ‘the show’ but at the same time I imagine there will be lots of tweaks happening.

Also, really looking forward to meeting other comics and seeing their shows and just chatting comedy with a ton of people!

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe.

I still have a job outside of comedy so that will be a big part of my day. My brother and I co-founded a food company in the US called Proper Good – so my day will most likely be wake up and work on Proper Good for 5 hours or so, so less than usual but still crush the main things, then work out, and then prepare for my show in the evening, then hopefully go out after and network and have fun.In

In any spare time I will try to get the most out of the fringe, and hang with new people, hopefully get on some showcases and any other comedy opportunities. Other than that I will try to keep things chill and take some lovely walks around Edinburgh, and eat cake and drink a ridiculous amount of tea.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

My favourite place is pretty much anywhere I can have what feels like a healthy main, and then an indulgent dessert. So that’s what I’ll be searching for each day, but I don’t know Edinburgh well enough yet to have ‘my go to place’ – hopefully I will find that

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

Since I am yet to perform at the Fringe I don’t truly know but I bet is it just that awesome mix of creative energy, meeting new people, and working on a project I love and hopefully seeing improvements in my show each day.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

Not really bringing anything special from home but I will buy a kettle for my room as a creature comfort, as soon as I get there. I like having a kettle in my room so that when I am in work mode I can just go and hole up in there with zero reason to leave. I find as soon as I go out to make tea in the kitchen then I get into conversation and loose time.Running

Running a company while also being a stand up comedian requires a ton of focus, so knowing that once I am in ‘work mode’ there are no distractions is super important to me, as then I get the work done and I can then do all the fun things! So my creature comfort will be my bedroom kettle, even though I am not bringing my kettle from home. I am already weirdly excited about choosing which colour kettle to buy when I am there, it will set the theme for my fringe, ha

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

I am not sure about saving money while at the fringe but having a good travel credit card and using that for all expenses during the year means your Fringe travel can be fully paid for in points, so essentially free. So I guess if people have not done that for this year they should for next year! A massive saving for sure!

If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

I am on instagram, TikTok and YouTube under @jenniferjanecomedy

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?

Hilarious. Heartfelt. Honest.
